MAG Impact Report 2025/26

In this report, you will find a summary of the meetings and events the MAG have been involved in from 1st April 2025 to 1st April 2026.

As you read this review of our first year, I hope it reflects both the importance of youth involvement and the value of truly placing young people at the centre of decision-making. From sharing their ideas with researchers, to running their own events, our youth advisors have transformed research activities at the Midlands Translational Centre. Our report reflects the dedication required to carry out youth-led initiatives, and highlights the many strengths and talents of our young people.

We would like to thank the staff and researchers who have helped bring our vision to life, joined our meetings with open minds, led training sessions, and shared their personal journeys into research. Our greatest thanks go to our MAG Youth Advisors for their dedication, energy and creativity.

"What started as an advisory group has become something far more alive. Through the dedication and creativity of our youth advisors, this group has grown its own identity, and its own voice...This year has shown us what becomes possible when young people are not just invited into an online space to offer feedback, but are placed at the heart of the work. Youth-led, youth-informed practice is not a tickbox exercise, for us it is the foundation from which meaningful research is built. Our advisors have inspired us, and consistently remind us why this work matters." ~ Carla Searle
