We are youth advisors for the Midlands Translation Centre. We give our perspectives (as young people) on a range of different research projects running in the Midlands Translational Centre. We make sure decisions about young people’s mental health research are shaped by the voices and experiences of young people! We meet online monthly (sometimes more) to share our perspectives/ experiences and ideas.

We give our input on a range of projects, these involve:

  • Projects focused on making mental health research better e.g. CADRE – A Children and Adolescents Data Resource aimed at linking a network of healthcare services, social services and education to support children’s health research and improve services.
  • Projects exploring the use of novel treatments: e.g.  exploring the use of Nitrous Oxide to treat depression
  • Projects exploring the use of digital technology and prediction modelling for mental health
"[The MAG] makes me feel part of a whole, included in something greater than I could be on my own."

What have we been up to?

MAG Impact Report 2025/26
"[The MAG] has provided much larger scope towards my own personal knowledge of how mental health research is conducted and that there is so much going on behind the scenes. The teamwork involved has really been highlighted through providing input and feedback to professionals working on the scene. It is clear a large number of voices are necessary to pivot mental health research and my time at the MAG has shown me this."
