Rebecca Chapman

R&D FTB Senior Clinical Research Mental Health Practitioner

Biography

My background is in Psychology and Mental Health. I have a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Foundations of Clinical Psychology and Mental Health from the University of Sussex.

I began working in the NHS during my degree and have worked in various clinical roles including Child Care Worker in a brain injury service, senior clinical support worker in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service inpatient ward and Assistant Psychologist in an Early Intervention in Psychosis service. I also qualified as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, completing my postgraduate training at the University of Reading.

My first research job was working as a Research Associate on a trial of cognitive remediation in Early Intervention in Psychosis services. I have worked in research for 8 years and became a registered Clinical Research Practitioner (CRP) in 2020. I have worked in research delivery posts across mental health, community health and acute NHS trusts as well as universities, gaining experience of the set up and delivery of a large range of trials. I am part of the national CRP leadership group and have been involved with the development of the CRP professional registration process, supporting other patient-facing research delivery staff in working towards professional registration, assessing applications to the CRP register and raising awareness of the contribution of CRPs to the research delivery workforce.
